TESTIMONIALS

I was training for my first marathon and ended up with a serious overtraining injury only a couple of months before the race. I didn't think there was any way I'd be able to rehab it in time to run. But Stephen got me fixed up faster than I thought possible. I was able to finish the race with no problems and by following his instructions I haven't had any problems since!

Steve has resolved my chronic back pain problem, which is worth repeating.  Steve has resolved my chronic back pain problem!  I am an active person and the thought of having my time at the gym reduced or having my recreational activities hindered due to back pain was not an option.  I have seen several other physical therapists in the past with no signs of improvement and had given-up on PT.  That was until I met Steve at my gym, where Steve was providing evaluations.  I was so impressed with Steve's knowledge and quick understanding, which included an appreciation of my exact back problem - I reached out to him via email that afternoon and made an appointment.  More importantly, Steve took the time to listen to me an answer all of my questions.

Steve is also incredibly generous with his knowledge and has worked very closely with my personal trainer to develop an exercise routine tailored just for me. This is what ultimately cured me.   I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Steve also happens to be a great guy. He's fun to hangout with and I feel like I've known him for years.  Perhaps that's the reason why I recently injured my knee. It must have been a Freudian thing in order to postpone my graduation from iPT.  My new malady is improving under Steve's guidance - aka: "Steve Horney's Helping Hands".  In addition, Steve believes strongly in the value of increasing his knowledge.  He remains up-to-date with current trends and prevailing breakthroughs by continuing his education regularly not only within his practice field, but beyond.  Finally, Steve and Matt have exceeded my expectations by working directly with my insurance company, a time consuming task to say the least. They have resolved an issue concerning my reimbursements and I can't thank them enough.

It’s hard to explain how Emil Berengut helped me, because it is almost impossible to imagine that anyone could’ve helped me so much, so thoughtfully, so totally. It is kind of emotional. So I am going to keep it short. Like a that fable about the thorn getting pulled out of the lion’s paw, Emil saved my post operative foot, my other foot, my whole body - after a many months ordeal of being bedridden and on consistent pain killers. He restored my ability to move, to walk, to exercise, to travel for work, to do nearly everything I’d like to do.

He is a wonderful, patient therapist, an incredible scientist and such an inventive and thoughtful practitioner. His humor and exceptional knowledge, along with truly creative exercises and ways of looking at pain management, in general and his practice, in specific got me from being basically a post-operative invalid (after a sadly failed and extremely painful foot surgery). And I will be indebted to him for the rest of my life. He is simply amazing.

Steve is a great physical therapist because of how much he listens to his patients.  He asks more questions than any medical professional I've ever been to.  I've sought him out for two separate running injuries and both times he not only made me feel better after leaving every session, but gave me new exercises every week that I could do at home to continue to get stronger on my own.  He understood how important it was to me that I be able to run and tried to get me back on my feet ASAP, rather than just telling me to pick a new workout.  I really can't say enough good things about him and his practice.

Stephen Horney has created a great PT department housed at Gotham gym.  He is a great technician and has a fantastic colleague Fernando who makes the operation seamless.  Kudos to ipt.  Horney  is personal and detailed. Fernando brings the same expertise and nice balance to the operation.

If you think that physical therapy doesn't work, it's because you haven't been to see Steve Horney.  I was suffering from some pretty nasty neck and nerve pain and for a period of a year had been to see neurologists, orthopedists, physical therapists, even an ENT specialist, and spent countless hours and many many dollars on doctor visits and pain meds. I had an appointment scheduled to get a cortisone shot when I was referred to Steve.  After just a couple weeks of sessions and a customized home exercise program that he put into place the pain was substantially reduced and within about six weeks was entirely gone.  Needless to say I cancelled the appointment for the cortisone shot and have been pain free ever since.

Steve has a savant-like knowledge of human anatomy, which enables him to employ the perfect balance of technical therapy/strengthening exercises and some pretty amazing holistic techniques that were highly effective; he's like a mix between a classically trained surgeon and a witch doctor in the Amazon...with the bedside manner of your best friend.

I would recommend (and have recommended) Steve without reservation. Not an exaggeration to say that he changed my life, and quite literally has saved me thousands of dollars in medical bills and many hours of wasted time.  Unqualified endorsement.
