Did you ever think that an acupuncturist could turn into a super acupuncturist by understanding and utilizing basic principles of physical therapy? Ergon IASTM


Do you want the best scientific research based Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization course in the world?  Do you think that soft tissue mobilization is better when performed with movement and load? Well then, the The Ergon Technique may be for you!  


Ergon places emphasis on  treatment based on fascial meridians using static and active forms of treatment.  Developed by veteran physical therapy professors in Europe who have performed, and continue to conduct, research on the benefits of IASTM for various applications, Ergon instructors have trained many practitioners in their technique, including the  physios for professional sports teams such as the legendary Arsenal FC.


This course will cover:

  1. Review of structure and neurophysiology of myofascial

  2. Review of key fascial trains or chains

  3. Basic techniques, strokes, and theory behind IASTM

  4. Mechanotransduction and neurological effects of IASTM

Kinetic Flossing


Have you ever wanted to pin and stretch a muscle while under load along with compression?  Are you aware of the benefits of blood flow restriction training but haven’t had time to read up on the uses or buy the equipment?  Then this course is for you!


Kinetic Flossing is an innovative therapeutic technique that involves compression bandages made of elastic rubber bands, which are applied to the human body to treat musculoskeletal and neuro-musculoskeletal systems.  They also have tools that go inside of the floss to give a pin and stretch to those easy and hard to treat places.


This course will cover:

  1. Therapeutic effects of Kinetic Flossing

  2. Theoretical background of Kinetic Flossing Treatments: Myofascial mobilizations and release. Biochemical, Neuromuscular and Biomechanical responses.

Movement Sciences for the Healthcare Clinician

FiRE - Functional Integrated Rehabilitation Exercise


How strong is your movement science game? Do you feel like you have the ability to get muscles turned on and firing every time you try? Any chance you have patients that no matter what you do their glutes STILL don’t fire?  Well then this may be the course you need!


We view the nervous system as a circuit box (the brain) and circuit breakers (the groups of muscles that perform each action including stabilization of the trunk, scapula and hips) and we are here to help by teaching you how to systematically turn on every circuit breaker in your body.  Once we turn those on we will take you through the 8 Basic Categories of Exercise including squat, deadlift, bench press so you will leave with a ton of “use on Monday” information. Join us to take a look at your movement preparation and therapeutic exercise from 30,000 feet and then give it a full reboot.


This course will cover:

  1. The “Circuit Box & Breakers” neurological model

  2. The 8 Basic Categories of Exercise + form & cues

  3. Load Management and Neuroplastic pain

Who are these people?



Stephen Horney PT,  MPT, MTC, CSCS, SFMA, HKC


Stephen graduated from Quinnipiac University's top-ranked accelerated Masters program and began his clinical practice in 2005. For the last 13 years, he’s prided himself on combining extensive physical therapy knowledge with his own experiences as an athlete to effectively treat his patients.

Steve has been seen on CBS Newspath, and specializes in the assessment and treatment of athletes with the ultimate goal of helping them become pain free and less susceptible to injury in the future.  He works with each of his patients one-on-one to help them understand the root cause of their pain.

In his professional life, Steve worked with some of the top physical therapists in the city and managed one of New York's premiere physical therapy clinics before starting iPT.  He has also completed his Manual Therapy Certification, a 2 year matriculating program from the University of St. Augustine, studying Manual Therapy with world-renowned Stanley Paris PT PhD to develop his healing hands.  

In order to help the athletic population perform better, Steve became a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) from National Strength & Conditioning Association specializing in exercise physiology for athletes in high school to professional level and recently went on to complete his Hardstyle Kettlebell Certification.




Karl Eichenfeldt, PT, DPT, SFMA, HKC


Karl earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY and has a love for manual therapy and sports rehabilitation. Before moving to New York City in 2001, Karl completed his B.S. in Exercise Science at the University of Rhode Island in his home state. Karl's many years of working as a personal trainer and physical therapy aide resulted in a great deal of hands-on experience working with people of all ages and fitness levels, with various types of injuries.

 

Above all else, Karl believes that Physical Therapists are human movement specialists, and will guide his patients toward reaching their optimal functioning.  In his free time, Karl trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA stile striking, and boxing. He is also fluent in Brazilian Portuguese and has a passion for lifelong learning.

Fernando Moreno Jr. PT, DPT, CMP

 

In 2010, Fernando received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Mercy College.  He is experienced as both a clinician and a trainer in locations around the tristate area.

 

Fernando understands the importance of education and maintaining a current skill set in the world of rehabilitation. Therefore, he prides himself in being a (CMP) Certified Mulligan Practitioner, Myofascial Trigger Point and Proprioceptive Therapist, and (COMT) Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist.

 

He has extensive clinical experience with:

- Outpatient orthopedic practice

- Post-operative rehabilitation

- Sports injuries

- Postural assessments

- Gait training

Peter D'Aquino L.Ac., M.S., Diplomate In Oriental Medicine:


Peter is a licensed Acupuncturist in New York state and holds board certification by the Nation Commission on Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in acupuncture and chinese herbal medicine.

He has earned a Master's degree from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York (PCOM).  Specializing in the integration of sports medicine and biomechanics with Eastern medicine. He also has advanced training in the following styles: Motor Point and Dry Needling, Trigger Point Therapy, Electroacupuncture, Neurofunctional Acupuncture, Applied Channel Theory and Japanese Acupuncture.

Peter has also been certified as a Personal Trainer

by The National Academy of Sports Medicine

(NASM). Specializing in a holistic approach to fitness, weight loss, nutrition, rehabilitation and optimizing health. Peter also has training and certification from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Oncological Acupuncture, a program combining integrative medicine and acupuncture to treat cancer patients safely and effectively.

Paula Tursi, MS, ERYT

 

 

Paula Tursi is a partner, mother, counselor, teacher and public speaker. Founder of Reflections Center for Conscious Living & Yoga and the internationally renowned Reflections Yoga Teacher Training Program, Paula developed Reflections as a way to integrate what inspired her about various practices with her own personal truth.

 

Paula has been traveling and teaching internationally for over twenty years, and began her training at Integral Yoga, where she studied Hatha and Restorative Yoga. Her studies continued with esteemed teachers Rodney Yee and Angela Farmer, as well as Leslie Kaminoff and Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen who guided her learnings in the art of yoga, breath work, anatomy, and movement awareness practices.

 

Paula received her masters degree in Education from Hunter College and studied Psychology at Columbia University, She did her clinical post-graduate training at the Milton H. Erickson Society for Psychotherapy and Hypnosis, and she now trains exclusively with Stephen Gilligan in the practice of Generative Trance hypnosis.

Paula offers yoga, meditation and counseling as a way to facilitate structure, guidance and a more conscious lifestyle. Her classes are a candid blend of artful alignment and attention cues targeted to your body, mind and heart.
